Our Hot Tub Installation Process

We understand that sometimes the installation process of your new hot tub can sound a bit overwhelming. The good news is that it doesn’t have to be! Our knowledgeable staff will walk you through all steps of the hot tub installation process to make sure you understand them all and to answer any questions you may have. Here’s a step-by-step look at how our hot tub installers ensure your hot tub is correctly installed.

Site Evaluation

Once you decide where you would like your hot tub placed, our professional installers will do a full survey of the site to ensure it’s on a flat surface and solid foundation that can support the hot tub’s weight, has access to a dedicated outlet to meet its electrical requirements, and that it will be easily accessible for use and maintenance.

Site Preparation

After reviewing the site, our team will take care of any necessary site preparations, such as leveling the ground or installing a base for the hot tub to sit on, such as gravel or a concrete pad.

Delivery & Placement

Once the site is ready, it’s time to deliver your hot tub! Your installers will be onsite when the hot tub is delivered to make sure it’s placed exactly where you want it.

Electrical Connections

After your hot tub is placed where it needs to be, your installation crew will run the electrical circuit and make final connection to the hot tub. JR Spas is a licensed electrical contractor and we do our own electrical in house.

Final Inspection & Walkthrough

Once your installers verify that your hot tub is good to go, they will take the time to show you around all the features of your hot tub, how it operates, answer any questions you may have regarding its warranty, and will educate you on how to best maintain your hot tub so it runs perfectly for many years to come.

Hot Tub Installation Requirements

As you can see from our installation steps, there are few requirements that need to be met before your hot tub can be delivered and installed. These include:

Choosing the Right Location Where do you want your hot tub placed in your backyard? Do you want your hot tub to have decking or a gazebo built around it?

Foundation Requirements Is the spot you selected able to hold the weight of a filled hot tub with people in it? Does your site require a concrete slab, gravel, pavers or a spa pad?

Electrical Considerations For electrical installation, will your hot tub have access to a dedicated electrical outlet of the correct size and power lines protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) circuit breaker? Is your hot tub near a water source with a garden hose where it can be easily filled up and drained?

Space & Accessibility Needs Do you have an entry point that is at least 42 inches wide to ensure there is enough space for the hot tub to be delivered? Once installed, will there be at least two to three feet of space around the hot tub for easy access to the interior equipment and for hot tub use? Do you need steps or a platform to access the hot tub?

Custom Installation Options

While the majority of hot tub dealers will follow the same basic installation steps, our installation team is also available to provide custom installation options, including:

  • Above-Ground Hot Tub Installations
  • Deck & Patio Integration
  • Built-In Spa Surrounds & Enclosures

Hot Tub Installation FAQs

What do I need to do to prepare for hot tub installation?

Before installation, make sure you have a solid, level surface like a concrete pad or deck, access to the required electrical connections, and a clear delivery path. Your installer will guide you through site prep details specific to your setup.

How long does hot tub installation take?

Most hot tub installations can be completed in a single day, depending on the complexity of the site, electrical work, and delivery logistics. Your dealer will provide a more accurate timeline after a site assessment.

Can I install a hot tub indoors or outdoors?

Yes! Hot tubs can be installed either indoors or outdoors. Each option has its pros and cons—outdoor installations are more common, but indoor spas require proper ventilation, drainage, and moisture control.

Do I need an electrician for hot tub installation?

In most cases, yes. Hot tubs typically require a dedicated 240 volt electrical connection, which must be installed by a licensed electrician to meet safety codes and ensure proper operation. The voltage you need depends on your hot tub model. Speak with a JR Spas representative to learn more about the electrical setup and how we can help get you prepared.

How much does hot tub installation usually cost?

The cost of installation can vary based on factors like site preparation, electrical work, and whether a crane or special equipment is needed for delivery. Your dealer will provide a customized estimate based on your specific project.

Will the dealer help with delivery and placement?

Yes. Our team handles delivery, placement, and coordination with licensed professionals as needed to make your hot tub installation in DFW as smooth and stress-free as possible.
